Seminar held at the Architecture Department, MIST, under the MoU between MIST and Re-WET consortium
A Seminar on "Urban Mapping" was held at the Architecture Department, MIST, under the MoU between MIST and the ReWET consortium on February 4, 2025. The keynote speaker was Dr. Tanzil Shafique, ReWET Project Lead and Assistant Professor at the University of Sheffield, UK. All students and faculty members of the Architecture Department attended the event. It may be mentioed that the Department of Architecture, MIST recently signed a MoU with the ReWet Consortium for Knowledge Excange Networks (KEN).
The keynote speaker focused on:
- The potential of mapping and its role in identifying problems for possible urban planning and design solutions aimed at holistic development.
- Various existing methods of urban mapping and real-case examples, with a focus on Dhaka city and its urban development.
- The alignment of the ReWET project, showcasing ongoing work and demonstrating the feasibility of mapping-driven design development, which can serve as a model for other projects
During the Q&A session, students and faculty members asked numerous questions and received feedback from the speaker.
