AI: Alien Intelligence or Artificial Intelligence ? Will AI wipe out Architects?

This lecture takes you on a roller-coaster ride looking at the extraordinary-but often terrifying potential of what is arguably the most significant invention of humankind. This lecture explains what AI is and how it works, focusing on its various manifestations and their potential impact on the field of architecture. It includes an introduction to the use of neural networks in architecture, presenting awe-inspiring examples of AI-generated design work from around the world. Groundbreaking experiments with Bangladeshi architecture, ranging from heritage to modern designs, are showcased, highlighting innovative approaches for designing that have never been attempted before. As the lecture unveils the capabilities of intelligent machines, it raises a crucial question that has been on everyone's minds: "Can machines be creative?" Though the title of the lecture is far-sighted, provocative, and challenging, yet it came from deep rooted research and cautious speculation for the creative profession – from students of architecture to all the design professionals who are holding their practice at this cutting edge of technology. Yet most schools of architecture around the world and the professionals are completely oblivious to what AI can offer, this presentation tried to reveal its radical input on the process of generating design which might open up an extraordinary new chapter in the architectural realm. Are we ready to  accept?
